The first time I saw my mother do this with Brendan over at her house, I was definitely a little disgusted! I was like, "Um, you cleaned and scoured the sink before you put him there, right?!" Of course she did. And she's extremely clean, so it's not like her sink was dirty before she put him in there anyway!
And we have tons of pictures of my brother when he was little playing in the sink, too! My mom said she wasn't able to get anything done if she was having company without putting my little brother in the sink!
So, yesterday morning I was washing Brendan's sticky breakfast hands in the sink and he said, "Pway in tink, Mom. Pway in tink." -- Well, OK. We'll see how long this lasts, I thought! He was in there for almost an hour!! Pouring water in cups, filling them up, pouring water on the floor, to which I told him I would take him out if he did that again... But seriously, it's JUST WATER! Easy clean up! I think my floor is actually cleaner now!
I got so much done and so many phone calls made. I live in the kitchen anyway, so to have him right there playing next to me was great! He asked again this morning to go in the sink right after breakfast and was in there for at least 50 minutes! I just open the utensil drawer and tupperware cabinet and it's like all brand new toys to play with in the water! I even brought over a bowl of ice cubes, and that extended his playtime another 15 minutes at least!
So, go ahead and call me in the mornings! I can talk now! My kid is happily playing in the sink and I'm happily drinking my coffee and getting stuff done... I have all the time in the world :-)
