The Prankster

Last night Jeff watched Brendan for awhile so I could go see a massage therapist for my back issues. I know, it sounds like I'm using my pain as an excuse to get a massage, but it was REALLY beneficial. And this girl who was referred to me by a friend, works in an office building, not a spa (even though I still felt like I was in one!), and she is trained to open up the spine, work out trigger points (balls of muscle fiber that bunch up and cause pain. I've been studying these for awhile and believe they are the cause of a lot of my pain...), and just release all the bad stuff out of the muscles that could be causing issues. I really think it will be helpful and hopefully get me over this last bit of lingering pain... I am OVER it, as this all started back in APRIL!!

So, after the massage, I called Jeff and asked him if he minded if I stopped by my favorite store because I just wanted to buy something for fall/winter. I don't get to this store very often, because it's about 35 minutes from our house, but it was literally 5 minutes from where my massage was... I mean I felt an obligation to pay homage to my favorite store ;-) He reminded me that we have two houses right now and shouldn't be spending ANY money at all, but somehow by the end of the conversation he said, "OK, just buy ONE thing." WOW. I was all ready to just go LOOK. I didn't even try to plead my case, because he's right! But now that I had permission... Well, OKAY! I found a super cute dress that probably totaled twice what he thought I'd spend, but I still stuck with the "buy one thing" instructions I was given, so I have more justification than I need, really!!

Jeff put Brendan to bed, so when I got home, I could still be in relaxation mode from my massage. How nice! To preempt the below pictures of what I found this morning when I went in to get Brendan when he woke I need to explain a little. I always get so annoyed with Jeff, in a funny sort of way, because he NEVER puts Brendan in matching pajamas! Like, he'll put the white and red monkey pants on with the green and white striped froggy pajama pants. When CLEARLY there is a matching white and red monkey tee, and likewise for the froggy pajamas! It doesn't sound THAT bad, but then I'm left with the other unmatching pajama set for the next night! So, his little "screw-up" now becomes a double night of majorly mismatched pajamas!

He did it a few times just because he's a "guy" and then when he realized it sort of bugs me, he now does it on purpose. So, its' sort of become a joke between us! So, most likely in an effort to get me back for leaving him with our active 2 year old, while I got a massage, then went and spent money on a dress, he thought he'd be funny last night. He did put him in matching pajamas, but he added a little accessory... this is what I found when I went in to get Brendan this morning!

"Good morning mom! I thought underwear was supposed to go under my clothes, but dad showed me a better way. Now I can see the Lightning McQueen Cars characters better, so now I'm probably going to want to wear my underwear like this ALL the time. You can thank dad for teaching me that fashion statement."

He looks a little like SuperMan. If SuperMan carried two blankies, sucked on a big red binkie, and woke up in the morning with a 5 pound diaper under his undies.

If anyone is wondering, no Brendan is not potty-trained, but I bought him undies a few months ago to show him that he could wear them if he went potty on his Elmo potty chair. Well, like always, that didn't go as planned. He wears the underpants over his diaper, UNDER his clothes usually... potty-training is no where in sight, so he may as well have fun wearing the Cars underpants!!

Update: 2 hours after I wrote this blog, I found the remnants of last night's dinner in the car -- Little Einstein Fruit Snacks and Sesame Street Cookies -- no wonder he likes Jeff more than me! How do I win against that?! At least the cookies were organic! (Like that really makes it better!).
