Slacker!

I know I've completely been slacking in the blog department lately... I know this not only because I realize it, but because several people have emailed to see if I'm alive! Thanks for checking on me!!

We've been very busy around here. Mostly trying to make the most of the great summer weather and going to the pool as much as we can. And then when it's nap time I'm so worn out from the heat that I just want to veg out for awhile and so I've dissed my blogging time... I'll try not to let it happen again!!

Also during nap time, I feel the need to recuperate from Brendan's new talking abilities. I wish I had a tape recorded conversation of what it's like to be around him all day. Don't get me wrong! It's SUPER exciting to hear him talking, but it's exhausting! Brendan feels the need to scream or shout to make sure he gets his point across. Even when he has my undivided attention! I think he gets louder each day... even other people have commented on his newly found ear-piercing pitch! I might try starting my mornings with two Tylenol instead of a cup of coffee!

I'm learning a few things, as always, as he gets older and is beginning to talk. For instance, I used to love to go in after his morning nap, and tell him where we were going for the afternoon because he would get so excited. But now if I tell him, he asks about it until we're there. No problem if we're going down the street, but today we had a 40 minute car ride to our destination!

So from the time I got him out of his crib, got him dressed, and we rode to his friend Nathan's house, I heard "Nay-Nay's house, Nay-Nay's house, Nay-Nay's house" at least 50 times. No exaggeration. I then have to say, "Yes, we're going to Nay-Nay's house right now." And no less than 5 minutes later he says, "Nay-Nay's house, Nay-Nay's house?!" and I say, "We're almost there..." (not really...). No wonder I am so in need of stimulating adult conversation lately!!

And when he says something, anything, you MUST acknowledge it with a "Oh" or "Yes" or some form of letting him know you've heard what he said. If you don't, he will just keep repeating, and repeating, and repeating until he is absolutely positive you have heard the important word or two he is saying!

It's better to email me at this point, rather than call. Just ask those who try and have a phone conversation with me lately!
