Potty Training...

will not be happening any time soon!! I'm actually not really pushing it, but I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a little toilet so Brendan could get used to the idea that it's for him and he can use it (if he so chooses!). When you press Elmo's hand, he says "Good Job!" or "Way to Go Potty!" Maybe Elmo can get my child to want to go potty. I certainly don't think I will be able to!

We talk about how potty and poop go in the "Elmo Potty" and a few times he's been in the middle of, how should I say this, "loading up his diaper..." and I tell him he should go sit on his Elmo Potty. Even with his diaper on, maybe he'll get the idea that he should be doing his business on the toilet... He sits there for a minute, well, more like 3 seconds, and then goes back to what he was doing before... and continues to do his business in the midst of shooting a basket or playing with cars. Can you blame him? Why not multitask while going to the bathroom?!

He has actually done a few drops of #1 in the Elmo potty, but not for me. For his favorite babysitter! She left it in there for me to witness. She was changing his diaper and asked him if he wanted to use his potty. He went right in and did it! I'm thinking when the time is right, I might hire her for a few days to be here, since he loves showing off for her so much!

I do have to remind myself that this is the child who never once cried because of a soiled diaper since he's been born. He actually prefers to sit in a dirty diaper! He will run around and play in the morning with a wet, 5 pound diaper hanging between his legs and does not want me to change him! When he was around 9 months I figured out that when he pooped after he woke up from a nap, he would stay in his crib forever and just play nice and quietly! I will never understand it! MEN!

So even though I bought the little potty, I'm assuming I will be posting a blog about being potty trained in about a year from now!! Oh, well!

"Mom, I'm totally going to kill you one day for taking this picture..."
