Instead of me just sneaking out on him, they told me I had to tell him that "I was leaving to go to the store, but I would be back to pick him up a little later..." Oh, he LOVED to hear that one. The crying began as I handed him over to Miss Karen. I stood there watching as he began to slap her across the face in his little fit of rage; something I'm used to, but others may not be!! "It's OK, mom, he'll be fine..." she tells me as she's dodging his little flailing arms!
By the time I walked out, he wasn't even crying anymore, so I was able to walk out of there and go enjoy some alone time... I went to Starbucks and got a coffee, went grocery shopping, ate lunch, went to one more store, and back to pick him up! It was great! I could do this everyday :-)
When I picked him up he looked tired, but was playing happily. They took pictures of him during his time there so I could see the different activities he did. He fingerpainted, played with play-dough and stickers, cooked in the pretend kitchen, played, and played, and then played some more...
Is it next Tuesday yet?!?!
Brendan's first "report card!"
Hanging on the fridge: Brendan's "works of art" with stickers and play-dough!

Hi Heather-
I have not checked this in a little while but was so happy to see this post! Maya is at CEC on Mondays and LOVES it. Is Brendan with Parker? I think you are going to love the free time, although it is a bit of a schlep for you. I spend the time with Sarah usually back at home- poor kid never gets time alone with mommy :(. Hope you guys are doing well and Brendan is feeling better.
