Here I am!! Yes, still alive, just way busy. I wish I had more time to do some blogging! Not much to say, other than we're doing well! Brooke is growing like a weed, and is almost 11 pounds. She sleeps pretty well, waking up once or twice during the night, and then usually going right back to sleep afterwards. She is such a sweet little baby. And a HUGE cuddler! She needs whooshing noise to fall asleep, like running water, or a fan. I use both at the same time and she literally goes from screaming to melting in 2 seconds! It's so funny. She loves to be carried around in the Moby wrap. We both love that thing. She's not very good at self-soothing... actually it's non-existent at this point!! I really wish I could say, "I just lay her in her bassinet and she falls right to sleep!!" But, that's not the way we roll over here... So, when she starts to fuss, I put her in the wrap, facing me, stick her pacifier in, stand in my bathroom with the fan and water running, and bounce her to sleep. Then I have to wait about 20 minutes, until she's really asleep, and I put her in the swing for all of her naps. I have figured her out by a lot of trial and error!! She's an easy baby, as long as I do these these little rituals! At night she sleeps in her bassinet, but for whatever reason, hates sleeping in it during the day, so she sleeps in the swing... in my bathroom with the fan on, so that her adoring brother doesn't wake her! Yes, my baby sleeps in the bathroom! But she sleeps well!!
Also, I started out nursing for about 4 weeks, but she wasn't getting enough milk. I had her weighed at 4 weeks and she was only a few ounces past her birth weight. AND she was eating for 45 minutes at a time. She would still be hungry, and I'd then have to give her an ounce in a bottle that I had pumped earlier. It was crazy. So now I'm pumping and feeding her bottles of pumped milk, so she is definitely getting enough! It's still crazy, but I know it's only a few short months that she will eat this frequently, and I'm getting used to managing every minute of my time very efficiently! It goes something like this:
Wake up, pump, feed Brooke, wash pumping stuff, change Brooke, Brooke plays, get Brendan breakfast, get Brendan and Brooke dressed, tell poor Brendan I will play with him later, empty the dishwasher, prepare bottles, load dishwasher, play with Brendan, Brooke starts to fuss, wrap her up and jiggle her for 20 minutes, put her in her swing when she looks to be dead asleep, pump, wash pumping stuff, try to get myself something for breakfast, oops Brooke is crying, go try and get her back to sleep again, make Brendan's lunch, check email while Brooke is napping and Brendan is eating, Brooke is up again, let the poor thing cry while I put Brendan down for his nap, go get Brooke and give her a bottle, AND THEN IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN, and throw in trying to make dinner, or running to the store!!! Who needs a life, right?!? And now I wonder what I did before I had her?? I guess I had a lot of free time, but I didn't think I did at the time! Funny.
In 3 days she will be 2 months old! How fast it's gone already. She has awarded us with her little smiles and sweet little baby talk, and is starting to bat at the little toys on her activity mat. She is getting good at tracking objects if you move them slowly across she will follow them. Those are about all of the highlights in her development!! I'm still working on getting this baby weight off, but she makes it all worth it :-) The holidays are NOT the time to have a baby if you have weight to lose... bet you can't guess what MY New Year's Resolution is...
Enjoy the pictures!! At the rate I'm blogging, you might not see any again on here until she's crawling! But I promise to try my hardest to NOT let that happen :-)

Happy New Year!! I'm 8 weeks old!
Getting her Baptism Dress on... and loving every minute of it!

Family Baptism picture, including the uncooperative big brother!
Her favorite place!! I feel more like a kangaroo and a cow right now than I do a human, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
