When we had Brendan, we didn't find out, and I was absolutely positive I was having a girl. I just remember hearing, "It's a BOY!" as he was born and just being so in shock! "A BOY? A BOY? I don't know anything about little boys!?" was all I could think... I think it took several days for it to sink in and for me to realize I just HAD a little boy! And of course now, I can't imagine it any different and I LOVE LOVE LOVE having a boy. They are so much fun, and SO loving -- there's a reason for the creation of the term, "Mama's boy" and I totally have one!!
This entire time I've been pregnant I have pretty much decided I am having a boy, but I still wanted to find out for sure. Last night was rough as I tried to get some sleep, but the realization of not only finding out what "flavor" baby this is, but finding out if the heart has four chambers, and the brain is developing correctly, and all kinds of other details they can see in that ultrasound set in... so I am happy to say that according to all the tests, measurements, pictures, and such, we have a VERY healthy baby!! Thank You God, for that!
Don't ever listen to me as a baby gender predictor, because I have now been incorrect BOTH times!! Drum Roll, Please!!!
We are having a little GIRL!!!!!
We couldn't be more excited! We have a name -- the name we thought we were going to use 3 years ago! Her name will be Brooke, we're not sure of the middle name. But we have always imagined our family to have a little Brendan and Brooke and now our dreams are coming true!
Brendan reminded me AGAIN, today, before we left for the ultrasound, that he "doesn't wike babies." But now that we've told him we are definitely having a little girl, and her name is Brooke, he is really excited. He said he will call her "Brookie" which I really can't stand! But I told him that he can call her Brookie and that will be his special name for her, and that seems to have put the baby-hating temporarily on hold:-) He actually seems excited! YAY for that!
Now come the preparations, all in PINK! Several family members will soon be broke, that's for sure! I might need to get a part time job to afford all of the clothes I have been eyeing for years! My next mission is to talk Jeff into letting me re-do our neutral baby room... I'll keep you updated on how that goes!
For now, we're just floating high, knowing that we have a healthy baby girl on the way. I'm half way through the pregnancy, and it's really going quickly. The number on the scale is going up quickly too, so she's already on her way to "stealing my beauty" as they say! Oh, well, that's her job, I guess!
