Redemption

Our vacation is over!! Actually, I decided that I am not going to be able to use the term "vacation" anymore... it's more of a "trip." When Jeff and I go alone, it will be called a "vacation!" When the kids are with us, I will call it a "trip." Don't get me wrong, we had a WONDERFUL time, but I tend to think of a vacation as relaxing, and I think Brendan was way more "high-maintenance" on this trip, than he was at home!! It's hard on a little 2 year old to put them in a new place and switch around their schedule, so the real 2 year old in him certainly came out!! More about our vacation will come in a later blog post...

What I really wanted to post was the fact that Brendan completely redeemed himself on the plane ride home! YAY! He was really tired and due for a nap, but this time he passed the crabby, naughty tired phase at the airport, and replaced it with the "I'm too exhausted to whine and misbehave, so I'll just watch 3 short movies, eat lunch, drink a few bottles, have some MnM's, and just chill out" phase!! He didn't fall asleep until the car ride home, but he was so good it didn't matter! I even read half of my GLAMOUR magazine on the plane ride home!! It was great! He was the poster child for the flight... never did I imagine I would be leisurely reading on the plane, while my well-behaved 2 year old sat next to me!

Something I am STILL trying to work on even after 2 years, is to have ZERO, Zilch, Nada, NO expectations for ANYTHING, EVER!! My mistake was that I had a little bit of an expectation on the way out to Florida, and I only set myself up for disappointment when I do have expectations for a toddler! It's much better to have NO expectations and be pleasantly surprised if whatever I'm doing turns out well... I hope I learn at some point!! I have gotten better, but I haven't mastered this advice yet!!
