I've Cloned Myself

Since I can remember, I've been hearing stories about myself as a toddler... and no, they're not good. Funny, but not about how "wonderful" I was as a little girl! I remember being younger, sitting around with my family, and having my sister say, "Tell some stories about Heather, mom..." -- they are family entertainment!

One of the stories that my mom always tells is how around 6am I would climb out of my crib, scale the gate that was supposed to be blocking the doorway, clothes in hand, and bang on her door, screaming, "Go bye-bye Mommy, Go bye-bye!" And this is yet another time she wishes she lived in my generation of child rearing since there is ALWAYS some place to go at 6 am (and crib tents!)... open 24 hours Walgreens, Giant Eagle, and Wal-Mart are just a few examples. But back in the late 70's nothing opened until at least 10am... So with no where to go at 6am, she signed me up for day care a few mornings a week!! They were open, and I was happy to leave the house apparently...

I've said from Day 1 I've cloned myself in Brendan, just based on his personality and little quirks. Thank God that right now I don't think he's as challenging of a toddler as I was (quote my mom, "Oh, you were MUCH worse, Heather...), but there's definitely some major similarities. Maybe he's balanced out by a teeny bit of Jeff's much calmer demeanor. I've been preparing for the 2's and 3's in my mind since he was born, and I've had to say that he's fairing much better in real life than I had envisioned... most of my visions were based on all the "Heather stories" I've heard.

I was making breakfast for Brendan this morning, when I heard him go upstairs (forgot to close the gate!). I was just about to go up and find him when he came around the corner carrying clothes and saying "Bye-bye." He had on his Elmo backpack, and was ready to get going! So I grabbed my camera and got a little video of this minor morning melt-down. As you'll see, his little tantrums are pretty short lived... at least for NOW!! He's not 2 yet... there's still time! :-)

Okay -- that was the cutest thing ever. I LOVE that he had on his backpack. I would have been on the floor laughing!
